MARKL BAVARIA TYPE 24/6 LONG TUBE FILLER/CROWNER GERMANY

This filler crowner was remanufactured in 1997 by a small German company, Markl Brauereimaschinen. The filler is a "Bavaria" long tube type filler, which were originally built by Holdefleiss and then Pirzer, who acquired the former. See history below.

This machine was used lightly for about 4 years after overhaul and then placed in storage. It remains in excellent condition. Two sets of bottle change parts are included, for bottle diameters 55mm & 60mm. Very minor adjustment will allow the machine to handle 12 oz. US long neck bottles. Speed on 12 oz. should be in the range of 125-150 BPM.

This is a long tube type filler, which are still used by many German small breweries. There are probably hundreds of them still operating in Europe. Long tube fillers are capable of very good package airs, some claim equivalent to double-pre-evacuation machines. Markl offers a double pre-evacuation retrofit for this machine for those who insist on that technology. The cost is far less than a new pre-evac machine of like capacity.

A brief but slightly convoluted history: The same engineer, Mr. Schillp, designed both the Holdefliess Bavaria and later the original Krones long tube filler (in fact Krones bought Schillp's filler manufacturing company in order to get into the filler business). Holdefliess was acquired by Pirzer, then eventually Pirzer shut down. Markl then acquired the Bavaria design and tooling and continues to make parts and overhaul machines, with many of his own enhancements incorporated. The Krones/Schillp machines and the Bavarias are very similar in design, appearance and operation. Markl also overhauls and makes parts for Schillp machines. There are probably hundreds of these machines still running in Germany and at least a few dozen in North America today. We've sold numerous Krones/Schillps and several Bavarias. They are extremely sturdy, reliable machines.
